Thermonics & MCT Join Forces to Improve Strip Handling Equipment Efficiency

August 25, 2016

Thermonics, Mansfield, MA (thermonics.com), a member of inTEST Thermal Solutions with Temptronic and Sigma Systems has developed a portable, low-temperature fluid chiller for MCT Worldwide, Minneapolis, MN (mct.com), improving strip handler equipment efficiency. MCT is the leader in strip test handlers for the semiconductor testing industry. The new chiller improves overall equipment efficiency for those customers performing cold testing down to -55ºC. The chiller has been integrated with MCT’s SH-5000 Strip Test Handler which is widely used for testing of both leaded and leadless semiconductor packages. By delivering low-temperature process fluid to the handler at a higher cooling capacity, the chiller cuts the handler ramp down time to a -40ºC test point in nearly half the time of previous systems. An automatic fluid purge option eliminates manual draining, decreasing the time to disconnect the chiller from the handler and also minimizing fluid loss during changeover.

The chiller is equipped with on-board diagnostics that help predict chiller health and avoid unexpected downtime. An intuitive touch-screen interface allows for set up of thermal profiles, viewing data and trends, and logging diagnostics. Communications interfaces include (Ethernet, RS232, USB) for remote chiller control, including web browsers on mobile devices.

Eco-friendly Electronics Thermal Test Systems

September 2015

inTEST Thermal Solutions, Mansfield, MA (inTESTthermal.com)…An environmentally friendly series of Temptronic® ThermoStream® temperature forcing systems that use one-third less energy with very low audible noise has been introduced by inTEST Thermal Solutions. The ECO Series temperature test systems operate on a low, 20-amp circuit and incorporate the company’s proprietary WhisperStream™ technology providing quiet, smooth-sounding operation at 56 dBA. The ECO Series is designed with the laboratory environment in mind where audible noise and heat dissipation are of concern.

The ECO Series features precise temperatures with fast transitions from -80 to 225°C for effective testing and conditioning of electronic components, boards, and modules. Systems are available for 50 and 60Hz operation. These portable systems are capable of ultra-low temperatures without the use of Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) or Liquid Carbon Dioxide (LCO2), making them ideal for any temperature test environment. Additionally, the systems provide remote communications and set up, touch screen operation, and a wide-reaching thermal head for easy positioning over the test device.

ECO systems complement the performance of the industry standard ATS ThermoStream® product line.
